TRADITIONAL STALLS AND MUCH MORE
Vacancies for Governors at Brandles
One parent governor
One co-opted governor
Governors are people who are able to support the staff in the running of the school .
We would really like to fill these vacancies. We do understand that for some parents it may seem a bit overpowering, so we need to explain what is involved.
All governors are part of a team, helping to achieve the best for the boys of Brandles. You would be expected to attend meetings ( which are mainly held in the evenings at 6pm and are twice a term usually) and offer your thoughts and opinions . Most of these require you to read reports before you attend the meeting. There are sub-committees and link roles which you may also wish to undertake.
The job of governors is to ensure that the school achieves the best outcomes for the pupils. You would visit the school, talk to the staff and pupils and monitor the work of the school. After your visit you would then complete a report. Governors also discuss strategic question about what kind of school we want Brandles to be and how we manage the funds allocated for this.
You do not need to have any specific qualifications as being a parent of a boy here is an important aspect of the parent role, but skills are evaluated to help us decide on group and individual training needs. For both roles we need you to be objective and independent in the scrutiny of verbal and written reports. Training and support will be offered for the areas where you feel it will be most useful. We mentor and support all governors.
Please think about it and if you would like to talk about becoming a governor or have any questions please contact the school and talk to either the Head or Chair of governors Mrs. Pat Furness 01462 892189. We should be glad to show you round and talk with you further about the role.
